Gwinnett Tech Posts a $74,880 Junior Database Job and Two Accounting Roles at $43,160 and $54,080

Wages

Gwinnett Technical College posted five jobs between Monday, Nov. 2, and Thursday, Nov. 5, on the State of Georgia’s Team Georgia Careers board, and the three full-time openings among them all list a fixed salary: $74,880 a year for a junior database administrator, $54,080 for an accounting coordinator and $43,160 for an accounting technician. The other two are part-time adjunct teaching jobs in electrical systems and automotive technology, paid in a lump sum based on the hours taught.

The count comes from a check of the board’s Gwinnett Technical College listings at about 17:54 UTC on Friday, Nov. 6. All five postings say applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and that each job stays open until a candidate is selected and hired, so there is no fixed closing date; the college says interviews may start before every application is reviewed.

Database Administrator Jr., Banner service: $74,880

The highest-paid of the five, a Database Administrator Jr. for the college’s Banner system (requisition JR0000007531, posted Tuesday, Nov. 3), pays $74,880 a year. It is a full-time, benefited, 40-hour job in the Technology and Operations Division, based mainly at the Lawrenceville campus with occasional work at the Alpharetta-North Fulton campus, reporting to the senior database administrator.

The minimum qualification can be met two ways: a certificate or associate degree in a related field plus one year of experience in database design, implementation and support using Oracle, Microsoft SQL or another industry-standard database system, or that one year of experience alone. The posting says experience may substitute for certifications year for year. Preferred qualifications include two years with Ellucian products such as Banner and Degree Works, not counting experience gained as a student, plus two years each of Linux, Oracle SQL queries and Linux shell or PowerShell scripting, and familiarity with Apache Tomcat, VMware vSphere and Tableau.

Two accounting jobs with a 7:30-to-6:30 availability window

Both accounting jobs were posted Monday, Nov. 2, in the Administrative Services Division and say the worker must be available between 7:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. and able to travel between campuses.

The Technician – Accounting job (JR0000007524) pays $43,160 a year and is a 40-hour, full-time, benefited, FLSA non-exempt position reporting to the director of student accounts. It requires a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of bookkeeping or accounting clerk work. The duties include entering revenue and accounts receivable data, recording cash, check and card payments, processing third-party contracts and scholarships, and sending students payment reminders and billing notices. A two-year accounting degree or a bachelor’s degree, Banner student-account experience, accurate 10-key skills and Excel are preferred.

The Coordinator – Accounting job (JR0000007519) pays $54,080 a year and reports to the director of budget and grant accounting. It completes subledger and other reconciliations. The minimum is a bachelor’s degree in a related field and two years of related work, and the posting says experience can substitute for the degree year for year. Knowledge of governmental accounting and of the State of Georgia’s financial system is listed among the needed skills, and experience with the state’s Team Works Financials system is preferred.

Two adjunct teaching jobs, paid by contact hours

The college also posted an Adjunct Faculty – General Automotive job (JR0000007544) on Nov. 3 and an Adjunct Faculty – Electrical Systems Technology job (JR0000007686) on Thursday, Nov. 5. Both are part-time and non-benefited, and the postings say the targeted salary is paid as a lump sum based on contact hours taught, without naming a rate.

The automotive job requires a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, or an associate degree in automotive technology, plus two years of related work and ASE or other industry certification. The electrical job requires a technical diploma or associate degree in the field, trade school, or 10 years of experience in the field, with three of the past seven years in the field or teaching preferred.

The postings are openings, not hires. Salaries are as printed on each posting as of Friday’s check.
