Georgia’s Educator Certification Agency Posts Three Work-From-Home Jobs Paying $38,480 to $48,880

Skills & Careers

The Georgia Professional Standards Commission, the state agency that certifies teachers and other educators, posted three work-from-home jobs on the Team Georgia Careers board on Friday, Nov. 6. Two are entry-level customer service roles at $38,480 a year, and the third is an outreach role at $48,880. The postings say employees can work from anywhere in Georgia, Monday through Friday, with no nights or weekends. All three list an end date of Friday, Nov. 20.

The jobs are listed under Atlanta, where the commission has its office, and the postings say staff come in from time to time for training, meetings and duty days. That travel is not reimbursed. Applicants need reliable internet and a private workspace. The postings were checked at about 17:40 UTC on Nov. 6.

Certification Customer Service Specialist, $38,480

This job (JR0000007744) handles educator records and calls about certification. Specialists answer phone and email questions from the public, school districts and colleges, including call center shifts on Mondays and Wednesdays. They walk educators through application steps and case status, route requests from district human resources staff, scan and index mailed and emailed documents into educator files, check identity and eligibility documents, and contact applicants about missing paperwork until each file is complete. The posting says they should be ready to help with mail and scanning in the office when needed.

The minimum is a high school diploma or GED and a year of experience communicating information in a customer service setting. A separate qualifications section in the same posting says six months of handling customer questions or complaints. Experience in a call center, help desk, records or data entry job, familiarity with Microsoft 365 and bilingual skills are preferred. New staff get paid training on certification rules and systems, and the commission says the job can lead to promotion to Certification Evaluator 1.

PDS Customer Service Specialist, $38,480

The second entry-level job (JR0000007748) supports Georgia’s early childhood education workforce through the Professional Development System, which tracks career levels for child care educators. Specialists answer questions from registrants, early care center directors and Department of Early Care and Learning staff, process documents and follow up on missing information. The posting says child care experience is a good background, along with customer service or office work. Knowledge of the Child Development Associate credential is a plus. The minimum qualifications match the certification job.

This one is time-limited. The posting says it depends on continued funding through a contract with the Department of Early Care and Learning. It can lead to promotion to PDS Evaluator.

Certification Transition Specialist, $48,880

The higher-paid job (JR0000007746) is the commission’s communications and outreach link with school districts and educator preparation programs. The specialist drafts email campaigns, the division newsletter and plain-language web guidance, presents at career fairs and conferences, and works with the division’s military support unit. The posting says the work helps military members, military spouses, veterans and career changers move into teaching. The job also evaluates certification applications about one day a week and may serve as a lead worker.

The minimum is a high school diploma or GED and four years of job-related experience, or two years as an Administrative Assistant 2. The commission prefers candidates at the Certification Evaluator 2 level or with three years of comparable certification experience, plus a background in communications, public relations, outreach or human resources.

Benefits

All three postings list medical, dental, vision and life insurance options, state retirement plus 401(k) and 457 plans, possible Public Service Loan Forgiveness, 13 paid holidays, annual and sick leave and paid parental leave. Each is an advertised opening, not a hire.
