Wages
The Georgia Department of Human Services’ Division of Child Support Services posted nine jobs on the state’s Team Georgia Careers board between Monday, Nov. 2, and Thursday, Nov. 5, and every one lists a specific salary. Pay for the agent and supervisor roles runs from $38,610.28 for an entry-level Child Support Services Agent 1 to $51,880 for an agent supervisor. Five of the nine are in metro Atlanta or open statewide.
The division locates noncustodial parents, establishes paternity and support orders, enforces and modifies support obligations, and collects and distributes payments. It also runs fatherhood, prison re-entry and Parental Accountability Court outreach programs. The postings were checked at about 17:40 UTC on Friday, Nov. 6. Each is an advertised opening, not a hire.
The pay ladder, as posted
The postings show how pay steps up through the agent series:
– Child Support Services Agent 1: $38,610.28 (JR0000007652, posted Nov. 5). – Child Support Services Agent 2: $42,901.10 (Lawrenceville, Valdosta and Columbus, all posted Nov. 2). – Child Support Services Agent 4: $48,040.84 (Atlanta, JR0000007549, posted Nov. 5). – Child Support Services Agent Supervisor: $51,880 (Atlanta and Albany, both posted Nov. 5). – Program Consultant 1, Parental Accountability Court: $44,998.81 to $59,143.36 (Atlanta, posted Nov. 4). – Manager 2, Child Support Services (Fatherhood Outreach): $61,222.73 (statewide, posted Nov. 4).
Current state employees are paid under State Personnel Board salary rules, the postings note, so internal candidates may see different figures.
Metro Atlanta openings
The Atlanta Agent 4 job, in Fulton County, is a lead-agent role. It covers reviewing and processing child support applications and payments, paternity testing, negotiating settlements on support amounts and pending legal actions, starting review and modification requests, and resolving disputes and enforcement actions so they do not have to go to court. The minimum is a high school diploma or GED and four years of directly related experience, or one year as an Agent 3. The posting lists a bachelor’s degree plus a year of customer service as one preferred route.
The Lawrenceville Agent 2 job in Gwinnett County requires a high school diploma or GED and two years of directly related experience, or one year as an Agent 1. Agents in that role manage a caseload and contact parents by phone, email and letter to make sure support obligations are met.
The Atlanta supervisor job requires a high school diploma or GED and five years of related experience, including two as a lead worker or supervisor, or time in the lower agent levels. The supervisor runs casework for an office or unit and handles sensitive and complex cases.
The Agent 1 posting asks for a high school diploma or GED and one year of directly related experience. It is titled for Gainesville, but its text places the job in “Gainesville, GA (Gwinnett County).” Gainesville is in Hall County, so applicants should confirm the office location before applying.
The Parental Accountability Court consultant, based in Atlanta, helps plan and assess the program and works with the courts, local governments, other agencies and the media to promote it. The minimum is a high school diploma or GED and a year of related experience or a relevant apprenticeship or internship. The fatherhood outreach manager can be based anywhere in Georgia and must travel to offices as needed. That job requires a bachelor’s degree and three years of managerial experience in a human services program, or time in lower management or supervisor levels.
Deadlines and screening
The postings list different end dates: Nov. 8 for the Lawrenceville Agent 2, Nov. 9 for the Parental Accountability Court and fatherhood outreach jobs, Nov. 11 for the Atlanta Agent 4, and Nov. 16 for the Atlanta and Albany supervisor jobs and the Agent 1 job. DHS lists 13 paid holidays, 401(k) and 457 retirement plans, and telework where the position allows it. Finalists may face drug screening, education and reference checks, motor vehicle record checks and criminal background checks.
