Wellstar Added More Than 100 Metro Atlanta Job Postings This Week, With Imaging Techs, ED Staff and Housekeepers in Demand

Employers

Wellstar Health System put up 105 new job postings at its hospitals, clinics and offices in metro Atlanta between Monday, Nov. 2, and Friday, Nov. 6. The list goes well beyond nursing. Imaging technologists, emergency-department technicians, paramedics, housekeepers, cooks, medical assistants and a senior electrician were all in the mix, and a few imaging and therapy postings offer sign-on bonuses.

The count comes from Wellstar’s Workday careers site, checked at 17:49 UTC on Friday, Nov. 6. At that point the site showed 1,090 open postings in total. Of those, 177 had start dates from Nov. 2 to Nov. 6. Seventy-two were virtual or were left out of the metro count: most were in the Augusta area, and the rest were in LaGrange, Warm Springs and Clayton in Rabun County, plus one at Sylvan Grove Hospital, whose posting gives no city. That leaves 105 in metro Atlanta. Postings are advertised openings, not hires.

Where the new postings are

Postings tied to Kennestone Hospital in Marietta made up the largest share, at 31. Cobb Hospital in Austell had 10, Paulding Hospital in Hiram and North Fulton Hospital in Roswell had nine each, Spalding Medical Center in Griffin had seven, Douglas Hospital had four and Windy Hill Hospital in Marietta had three. Most of the rest were for physician practices and urgent-care clinics in Marietta, Douglasville, Hiram, Alpharetta, Roswell, Woodstock, Dallas, Powder Springs, Villa Rica and southwest Atlanta.

Wellstar’s emergency departments are hiring in several places. Paulding Hospital posted a full-time emergency RN job on a 3 p.m. to 3 a.m. shift, a PRN emergency RN, part-time ED technician jobs on 1 p.m. to 1 a.m. and 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. shifts, and a PRN ED paramedic. The ED technician posting (JR-80441) asks for a high school diploma or GED, Basic Life Support certification and the ability to take vital signs manually. The paramedic posting (JR-80426) requires a paramedic credential along with ACLS, BLS and PALS. Cobb Hospital, North Fulton and Spalding also posted emergency nursing, technician or paramedic jobs.

Imaging jobs carry bonuses

At least four imaging postings went up during the week. A weekend radiologic technologist job at Douglas Hospital (JR-78189, dated Nov. 6) is part-time and “eligible for a $5,000 sign-on bonus.” It requires completion of an accredited radiologic technology program and says experience is “preferred, not required,” with ARRT-R and BLS listed as preferred certifications. A full-time nuclear medicine and PET technologist job at the Wellstar Douglasville Imaging Center (JR-79108, dated Nov. 2) works Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. It is sign-on-bonus eligible, may come with relocation assistance, and requires ARRT-N or CNMT certification. An MRI technologist job at Wellstar Atlanta Gynecologic Oncology (JR-80755) and a 16-hour-a-week outpatient neuro occupational therapist job at Kennestone (JR-81137) are also listed as sign-on-bonus eligible, but neither names an amount.

Kennestone also posted two part-time radiology technologist intern jobs (JR-69375 and JR-61489) on Nov. 5. The intern posting asks for a high school diploma or equivalent plus BLS. Once interns are signed off on chest, extremity and abdomen exams, they can perform those exams under indirect supervision.

Entry points without a clinical license

Several of the week’s postings need no clinical license. Kennestone posted day, evening and night housekeeping and floor-technician jobs, along with a materials transporter job working 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The day housekeeper posting (JR-76194) lists a high school diploma or GED as preferred and requires the ability to read, write and understand simple instructions in English. New hires must finish a departmental training program within their first 30 days. Cobb and Douglas hospitals added part-time housekeeping and dishwasher jobs, and Kennestone posted part-time and PRN retail cook jobs.

A full-time care partner job at Kennestone (JR-80415, dated Nov. 6) is open to applicants with a high school diploma or GED and also to rising seniors in good standing in a related program. It requires BLS and prefers completion of a state-approved CNA or patient-care-tech program. For skilled trades, a senior electrician job at Kennestone (JR-73469) requires at least five years as an electrician and two years of fire-alarm and emergency-power experience.

None of the postings reviewed lists an hourly wage or salary range. Applications are submitted on Wellstar’s Workday careers site. Postings there change daily and can close once filled.
