AI & Work
The Home Depot has posted a fresh round of artificial intelligence and data science openings tied to its Store Support Center, the corporate headquarters at 2455 Paces Ferry Road in the Vinings area of Cobb County, which carries an Atlanta mailing address. On Friday, Oct. 30, the retailer posted a Senior AI Engineer role to build “production-grade Agentic AI systems” and a Senior Data Scientist role for online recommendations. On Monday, Nov. 2, it added a senior marketing science analyst.
When the company’s Workday careers site was checked at 15:02 UTC on Tuesday, Nov. 3, it listed 243 open postings at the Store Support Center. Thirty-eight of those had titles naming data science, AI, data analysis or data engineering, and 31 included “data scientist” or “data science.” Most of the 38 had been up for more than 30 days. Each is a posting the company is advertising, not a count of people hired.
The new AI engineering role
The Senior AI Engineer posting (Req189400) is classified as remote, though it is filed under the Atlanta headquarters. It describes building applications powered by large and small language models, retrieval-augmented generation and “autonomous agents,” including the orchestration layers that let multiple agents plan, route tasks and call tools. The required skills call for 6-plus years in AI, machine learning engineering or software engineering with strong Python, experience deploying LLM-based copilots and agents in production, and hands-on cloud and MLOps work with Docker, Kubernetes and infrastructure-as-code. Preferred tools include Vertex AI, Gemini, LangGraph, CrewAI and AutoGen. Travel runs 5% to 20% of the time.
It is the only posting in this group with a pay range: $100,000 to $250,000, stated for residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Nevada, Washington and parts of New York. Listed benefits include health care, a 401(k), an employee stock purchase plan, paid time off and a “success sharing” bonus.
Onsite data science and analytics roles
The other postings are marked onsite at the headquarters, and none lists an Atlanta pay range. The Senior Data Scientist, Online Recommendations role (Req195396), also posted Oct. 30, asks for a minimum of five years of experience and prefers a Ph.D. in a quantitative field. It also prefers skill in Python, BigQuery or SQL and Tableau, plus specialization in areas such as optimization, computer vision, recommendation, search or natural language processing. The job includes mentoring junior staff.
The Senior Analyst, Marketing Science posting (Req197318), dated Nov. 2, centers on marketing-mix modeling and incrementality experiments. It asks for at least five years of experience and prefers a master’s degree, econometrics and causal-inference skills, and coding in SQL and Python or R with Vertex AI and AutoML.
A week earlier, on Oct. 26, the company posted six data roles at the same site. Among them were senior and associate data scientist jobs in “Generative BI.” Those postings say the work is “configuring, tuning, and scaling” generative business-intelligence tools “rather than building generative models from scratch.” The associate role (Req192214) prefers a master’s degree or equivalent experience and 3-plus years in business intelligence, along with experience with chatbots, large language models or conversational analytics. On Oct. 23, a Lead Analyst for Data Governance and Quality (Req191143) went up. That person will design automated audits of data products and needs at least six years of experience, SQL and light Python scripting.
Older openings still live
Two postings flagged in earlier research date from September, not this week. The Data Scientist, Space Intelligence role (Req194210), posted in late September, works on deep learning, computer vision, knowledge graph and agentic AI systems for merchandising decisions. It requires three years of experience; preferred qualifications include a master’s degree and 4-plus years deploying models (two with a Ph.D.). The Data Analyst Labor role (Req182198), dated Sept. 23, analyzes hourly store payroll and requires one year of experience. It prefers Tableau, basic SQL and working knowledge of generative AI tools such as ChatGPT and Copilot.
Every posting’s minimum qualifications are being at least 18 and legally permitted to work in the United States. Applications go through Home Depot’s Workday portal, linked from each listing. Postings can close without notice once filled.
