Grady Posts EMT, Advanced EMT, Medical Assistant and Nursing Tech Openings: The Licenses Each One Requires

Employers

Grady Health System added a set of credential-based, non-physician openings to its careers site between Oct. 28 and Nov. 2, including full-time ambulance jobs for an advanced emergency medical technician and a basic EMT, a certified medical assistant, a night-shift nursing support technician and a community health worker. The postings were live when Grady’s careers site was checked at about 15:05 UTC on Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Each is a single requisition for an opening Grady is advertising; none states how many people will be hired. None of the five postings lists a pay rate or range, so applicants will need to ask recruiters about pay.

What the postings do spell out is which license or certificate gets an applicant in the door.

Ambulance crew jobs

The newest EMS posting, Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (requisition R26005172), was posted Oct. 30 for Grady’s EMS Atlanta Operations base at 745 Memorial Drive SE. It is a full-time day-shift job scheduled for 40 hours a week. AEMTs provide emergency care under the direct supervision of a paramedic, keep their vehicles and equipment ready, and transport patients.

Applicants need a high school diploma or GED, a current Georgia AEMT license (the posting also accepts the older EMT-I or EMT-A designations), current American Heart Association BLS certification, a valid Georgia driver’s license with a clean driving record, and knowledge of advanced life support protocols and ambulance operations.

A companion posting for a full-time Emergency Medical Technician-EMT B (R26001328), dated Oct. 28 and based at the same Memorial Drive location, requires a high school diploma or GED, an active Georgia EMT-Basic license, current AHA BLS certification, and a valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle record under departmental standards. It is also scheduled for 40 hours a week.

Clinic and hospital support roles

Three more postings went up on Nov. 2.

A full-time day-shift Medical Assistant Certified job (R26005610) at the Flat Shoals Outpatient Center requires a high school diploma or GED, AHA BLS certification and a current medical assistant certification from one of three named national bodies: the CMA credential from the American Association of Medical Assistants, the NCMA from the National Center for Competency Testing, or the CCMA from the National Healthcare Association (NHA), as the posting names it. The assistant works under a physician’s direct supervision during clinical tasks and reports to the clinic manager.

A Nursing Support Technician job on a medical unit (R26005754) at Grady’s main downtown campus, 80 Jesse Hill Jr. Drive SE, is a full-time night position scheduled for 36 hours a week. It requires a high school diploma or GED, BLS certification and one of three qualifications: a current Georgia nursing assistant certification, a certificate from an accredited patient care technician program, or completion of a basic nursing fundamentals course shown on an official nursing school transcript. Technicians provide personal care and help patients with daily activities under the supervision of nurses or physicians, and may be cross-trained as patient safety monitors or unit clerks.

A Community Health Worker job (R26005533) at the Ponce Center, 341 Ponce de Leon Ave., sets a higher bar: a bachelor’s degree in public health, social services or a related field, a valid Georgia driver’s license, reliable transportation and Microsoft Office proficiency. The worker provides outreach and health education to patients who are frequent users of Grady Hospital.

Benefits

The five postings share Grady’s standard Total Rewards description: medical, dental, vision and prescription coverage; retirement plans with employer contributions; life and disability insurance; paid time off, holidays and family leave; tuition reimbursement; and an employee assistance program. Applications go through Grady’s Workday portal, linked from each posting.
