Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Posts 70 Openings in Four Days, From Pediatric RNs to Cooks and Registration Clerks

Hiring

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, the region’s pediatric hospital system, put up 70 new job postings between Sunday, Nov. 1, and Thursday, Nov. 5, according to its own careers site. About a third are nursing jobs, but the list also includes a sizable number of roles that do not require a clinical license, from environmental services and cooking to registration and security dispatch.

The count comes from the system’s careers site, checked at about 02:30 UTC on Friday, Nov. 6 (late Thursday evening in Atlanta). The site listed 442 distinct open requisitions in all. Of the 70 dated Nov. 1 through Nov. 5, one was posted Nov. 1, 22 on Monday, Nov. 2, 21 on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 14 on Wednesday, Nov. 4, and 12 on Thursday, Nov. 5. These are openings the employer is advertising, not hires, and a single requisition can be filled by more than one person.

Where the jobs are

Most of the new postings, 56 of 70, are listed in Atlanta. That covers the Arthur M. Blank Hospital campus at 2220 North Druid Hills Road, Scottish Rite hospital at 1001 Johnson Ferry Road, and Hughes Spalding at 35 Jesse Hill Jr. Drive downtown. Five more are at the system’s Brookhaven offices, including an AI/machine learning engineer, an analytics developer, an epidemiologist and a construction project manager.

The rest are spread across suburban clinics and outpatient sites. Postings include registration and front-office associates in Cumming, Chamblee, Alpharetta, Suwanee and Cartersville, an urgent care medical technologist at Hamilton Creek in Dacula, and orthopedics advanced practice providers in Douglasville and Stockbridge. One part-time registration job is in Watkinsville, which is outside metro Atlanta.

By the employer’s own categories, the 70 postings break down as 23 nursing, 15 professional and administrative, 13 allied health, seven facilities, six advanced practice providers, three clinical support, two information technology and one leadership. Forty-seven are full time and 22 part time.

Nursing roles

Sixteen of the new postings are staff registered nurse jobs. They include the Technology Dependent ICU, inpatient hematology/oncology and bone marrow transplant at Arthur M. Blank, the Aflac hematology/oncology clinics, the emergency department and ortho/surgical unit at Scottish Rite, a primary care clinic at Hughes Spalding, and case management on weekends. A ground transport emergency services RN posting carries “Sign on Bonus” in its title, but the posting does not give an amount.

The staff RN postings reviewed list the same core requirements: 12 months of RN experience, graduation from an accredited school of nursing, and a Georgia or multistate compact RN license. BLS certification is required within 30 days of employment. PALS or PEARS certification is required within a year where the department calls for it. A BSN is preferred, not required. The TICU job is full-time nights. The Hughes Spalding clinic job runs Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Roles without a nursing license

Several new postings are open to people early in a health care career.

A full-time Pharmacy Technician 1 job, posted Nov. 3, says “no experience necessary” or retail pharmacy technician experience. It requires a high school diploma and a Georgia pharmacy technician or pharmacy intern registration.

A Care Partner job in the Scottish Rite emergency department, posted Nov. 4, works a 1 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. shift. It requires a high school diploma and at least one year of clinical experience. Certification as a medical assistant, EMT, nursing assistant or patient care technician is preferred, or a nursing student who has completed one clinical rotation. Applicants also need BLS within 30 days.

An Environmental Services Technician job at Arthur M. Blank, posted Nov. 5, runs 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. It asks for one year of experience in a fast-paced setting and needs no certification. A Security Dispatcher job, posted Nov. 4, works weekdays from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. It requires a high school diploma and one year of experience in security, law enforcement, the military or public relations. Other new postings include cooks, a sanitation aide, phlebotomy and specimen-processing techs, and a Spanish medical interpreter. The interpreter job requires two years of health care interpreting experience and a passing score on a third-party skills assessment.

How to apply

Outside applicants apply through the careers site; current employees are told to apply internally through Workday. None of the postings reviewed lists a pay rate or range, so applicants should ask about pay early in the process. Postings can close without notice once they are filled.
