An October Career Fair in Cobb County Brings Students and Georgia Employers Together

Who’s Hiring

The Georgia Association of Colleges & Employers has scheduled its 2026 Statewide Career Fair for Wednesday, October 21, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, 2800 Cobb Galleria Parkway, in metro Atlanta’s Cumberland area. The organizer says the fair connects students and degree holders from Georgia institutions with employers offering full-time, part-time, internship, cooperative-education and graduate opportunities. GACE’s calendar describes it as the largest collaborative career fair in Georgia, drawing more than 40 institutions. The confirmed details provide a useful planning date, not a guarantee that every attendee will find a position.

Practical details

GACE says parking costs $5 per vehicle and encourages carpooling. It asks attendees to wear business attire, bring multiple copies of their résumé and preregister through the CareerFairPlus app. Recruiting teams should note that employer booths are limited to two representatives because of space. Students should check the current registration instructions and the lists of participating schools and employers, and should not assume that every organization at a statewide fair has openings in every discipline.

A different channel from an online posting

A fair lets an employer explain what an online listing often leaves out: whether an internship leads to a separate full-time recruiting process, whether a role is tied to a particular office or worksite, and which application deadlines matter. It also lets a candidate distinguish a future talent-pipeline conversation from a current job interview. That reduces the risk of mistaking networking activity for immediate hiring demand.

Before attending, applicants can prepare a concise professional profile and one or two examples of work relevant to the roles they want. Questions about which teams are actually hiring, location requirements and how candidates are assessed are more useful than general career advice. Graduates should also check whether employers accept applications from alumni rather than only currently enrolled students.

The labor-market backdrop

National demand remains mixed. The July Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey counted 7.3 million openings at month-end and 5.1 million hires during the month, a hires rate of 3.2%. A recruiting fair can create introductions, but attendance at an event is not a comparable labor-demand statistic. Its value will show up in subsequent interviews and offers, not in how many people circulate through the venue.
