Atlanta Job Economy
Lockheed Martin’s Marietta operation is adding 1,200 jobs, expanding one of Cobb County’s largest advanced-manufacturing employment centers.
The Marietta facility already supports more than 5,600 Georgia jobs and produces aircraft including the C-130J. The company says careers at the site span advanced manufacturing, engineering, AI, data analytics, IT, finance and operations.
For metro Atlanta, the significance is occupational breadth. A large aerospace employer creates demand well beyond assembly work, connecting engineering, digital systems, skilled production and business functions in the same local labor market. The announced positions should still be treated as planned hiring rather than jobs already filled.
