UCB’s $2 Billion Gwinnett Biologics Plant Will Anchor a New Metro Atlanta Life-Sciences Site

Atlanta Job Economy

Biopharmaceutical company UCB plans to invest $2 billion in its first U.S. biologics manufacturing facility at the Rowen development in Gwinnett County, with 330 jobs expected over several years.

The project is significant for metro Atlanta because it adds a large-scale advanced-manufacturing anchor to a region better known nationally for logistics, corporate services and technology. UCB already has its North American headquarters in Smyrna, where it supports more than 400 jobs.

The workforce demand is likely to span biomanufacturing, quality, engineering, laboratory and operations functions, but the company has not said that all 330 positions are currently open. The hiring number is a multi-year project estimate.
