Atlanta & Local Affairs
Office-products distributor Essendant notified Georgia officials that it would permanently close a facility in Suwanee, affecting 192 employees, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filed with the state.
What the official notice says
The notice, published by the Technical College System of Georgia as GA WARN ID GA202600007, was submitted on August 4, 2026. It lists a single location, 125 Horizon Drive in Suwanee, and describes the action as a permanent closure.
It lists 192 affected employees and a first date of separation of October 3, 2026. The company address on the notice is Essendant’s headquarters in Lincolnshire, Illinois.
The filing does not describe the jobs affected or give a reason for the closure, and Essendant has not issued a public statement about the Suwanee site that JobGetr could locate.
Broader context
Trade publication Distribution Strategy Group, reporting on August 11 on Essendant layoffs in several states, said it had not received a response from the company. The publication quoted a separate Essendant WARN notice in Pennsylvania saying the company had been exploring “strategic alternatives, including potential sale transactions, while attempting to secure additional capital to avoid liquidation,” and that it otherwise “currently expects to cease operations and close the business.” JobGetr has not independently reviewed the Pennsylvania notice.
A WARN notice is an advance notice of a planned closure or mass layoff. It does not by itself show whether every listed separation occurred on schedule.
What it means for workers
For the 192 employees listed in the notice, the October 3 separation date has now passed. The filing does not say whether any workers were offered transfers to other Essendant locations.
What to watch: any statement from Essendant on the Suwanee site, additional WARN filings for other Essendant locations, and the outcome of the company’s reported search for strategic alternatives.
