Hyundai Transys plans to add 320 jobs in West Point, Georgia, as part of a nearly $560 million expansion that will increase the supplier’s capacity to build electrified powertrains for hybrid vehicles.
Gov. Brian Kemp announced the project on Oct. 8. According to the Georgia Department of Economic Development, the investment will fund upgrades to the company’s first two plants at its Kia Parkway site in Troup County and the construction of a third plant. Hyundai Transys already has roughly 1,250 jobs at the West Point operation, so the planned hiring would expand that workforce by about a quarter if every position is filled.
The state said the company will hire for administrative, supervisory and production positions. Kemp framed the project as another addition to Georgia’s automotive manufacturing ecosystem.
For West Point, the project pairs new hiring with the retention of more than 1,200 existing jobs at an established site.
Hyundai Transys, founded in 1994, makes powertrain and seating systems and operates 32 sites in 10 countries with more than 11,000 employees worldwide. Partners on the project include the City of West Point, Georgia Quick Start, Georgia Power and the Georgia Department of Economic Development.
The state’s announcement did not include a construction schedule or a hiring timeline. Job seekers interested in the new roles should watch Hyundai Transys’ careers channels as the expansion advances.
