City of Atlanta Job Portal Lists 62 Openings, From Building Inspectors to Airport Engineers

Hiring

The City of Atlanta’s official careers portal listed 62 open job postings as of 4:30 p.m. ET on Friday, Oct. 30, ranging from a building inspector role posted that morning to a firefighter recruit listing first posted in December 2025. Postings are recruiting activity, not hires, and a single listing can cover one seat or several.

The count is the portal’s unfiltered total for its external job site; applying a 25-mile radius around Atlanta returned the same 62 listings. By the portal’s own location tags, 51 listings were tied to Atlanta, nine to College Park and three to Hapeville, with a few postings carrying more than one city. Most of the College Park and Hapeville listings are airport roles at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, which the city operates through its Department of Aviation. The portal showed 16 listings posted in the previous seven days and 43 within 30 days; 19 were older than a month, the oldest a firefighter recruit posting dated Dec. 29, 2025.

The newest postings

Five listings went up on Thursday, Oct. 29, and Friday, Oct. 30. A Combination Inspector I in the Department of City Planning’s Office of Buildings, based at 55 Trinity Ave. SW, pays $47,474.94 to $68,000 and stays open until filled. It requires a high school diploma or GED, two years in the building trades or an equivalent mix of education and experience, and at least four inspector certifications from a list that includes International Code Council residential and commercial building, plumbing, mechanical and electrical credentials.

An Airport Engineer (BIM Coordinator), posted Oct. 30 and tagged College Park, pays $68,156 to $100,000 and expires Nov. 13. The job coordinates building information models for airport design and construction and asks for a bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering or a comparable field plus five years in BIM or virtual design and construction roles. An assistant director for architecture in airport planning and development was also posted Oct. 30.

A Compliance Specialist I in the Department of Grants and Community Development, posted Oct. 29, pays $62,000 to $68,000 and expires Nov. 4. The role monitors compliance with U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development rules, requires a bachelor’s degree and two years of related experience, and follows the city’s hybrid policy of at least four in-person days a week.

A Watershed Manager I at the R.M. Clayton water reclamation plant on Bolton Road NW, posted Oct. 29, pays $73,268 to $99,320 and expires Nov. 5. It requires a bachelor’s degree in a science or engineering field, three years in wastewater management and a Georgia Class I Wastewater Treatment Operator license, or eligibility to transfer one from another state within six months.

Jobs that do not require a degree

Several listings are open to applicants with a high school diploma or GED. A Department of Watershed Management Wastewater Collection Operator I, posted Oct. 28, pays $48,582.85 to $53,228.56, expires Nov. 4 and requires one year of commercial-vehicle experience and a Class B Georgia commercial driver’s license; the posting describes heavy work with occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds.

An Airport Building Maintenance Technician II on the landside, posted Oct. 26, lists a pay range of $21.29 to $31.00 without stating the unit and expires Nov. 4. It asks for two years of building repair experience and a valid Georgia driver’s license, and says hires must show they can advance to the Technician III level within 18 months.

An ATL Enforcement Supervisor overseeing vehicle-for-hire enforcement, posted Oct. 28 and based at Hartsfield-Jackson in College Park, pays $54,863 to $72,800 and expires Nov. 11. It requires two years as a vehicle-for-hire inspector or related public-facing or inspection experience.

Before applying

Closing dates differ by listing, and some say only “until filled,” so applicants should check each posting rather than assume a common deadline. Pay is stated as a range on most listings; the posting does not say where in the range a new hire would start. Listings can be added or removed at any time, and the counts above reflect a single snapshot of the portal.
