Georgia State’s Part-Time Jobs Event Brings Student Hiring to Downtown Atlanta Today

Who’s Hiring

Georgia State University students looking for work that fits around classes can meet employers on campus today. University Career Services is holding a Part-Time Jobs Only edition of its fall Tabling Tuesdays series on Tuesday, September 29, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the first floor of 25 Park Place in downtown Atlanta. The university’s event page describes it as a chance to “connect with employers hiring GSU students for part-time jobs, internships, and seasonal opportunities.”

What the event offers

The event is free and is listed for students on the Atlanta campus. It is set up as a drop-in: the page invites students to stop by between classes “to learn about available positions, meet recruiters, and explore opportunities that fit your schedule.” Career Services says opportunities may include part-time jobs, part-time internships, seasonal positions, customer service and retail roles, administrative support, hospitality and recreation, education and childcare, and marketing and brand-ambassador positions, along with other student-friendly work.

The university has not published a list of participating employers on its public page; that list sits in the school’s Handshake career platform, which requires a student login. The fall series began September 22, and one more date is scheduled: Tuesday, October 27, also from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Why part-time recruiting matters

For many students, a part-time or seasonal job is both income and a first piece of work history. A campus tabling event lowers the cost of a search on both sides. Students can talk to several employers in a short window between classes, and employers can reach candidates whose schedules and experience differ from those of full-time applicants.

What the listing does not tell us

An event page is not a count of open jobs, interviews or offers, and the university’s list of possible job types does not mean every type will be represented today. The event is aimed at Georgia State students; it is not a general public career fair for Atlanta job seekers.

What to ask

Students comparing options can ask employers about weekly hours and schedule flexibility during exams, the hourly pay rate, where the job is located and how to get there, and whether an internship is paid. Those details usually decide whether a part-time role actually works alongside a course load.
