OpenAI Robotics Hiring Push Spans Hardware, Software and Lab Roles

Who’s Hiring

OpenAI is expanding recruiting for its robotics effort, with recent listings spanning hardware, software, data, prototyping and laboratory work. Reporting on the current openings counted 27 robotics-related listings, up from 11 in May, with some engineering compensation ranges reaching $500,000.

The important hiring signal is the breadth of occupations. Physical AI requires more than model researchers: actuator design, firmware, machine learning, data collection and lab operations all appear in the recruiting mix. That makes robotics a useful example of how AI investment can create demand across adjacent technical disciplines rather than only for software roles.

Job seekers should treat posted ranges as role-specific, not representative pay for robotics broadly, and verify live openings directly with the employer before applying.
