Georgia's broadest measure of labor underutilization, known as U-6, averaged 7.1% over the period from October 2025 through September 2026, a full percentage point below the 8.1% total for all states, according to updated state estimates the Bureau of Labor Statistics posted Friday, Oct. 23.
The 4.1% unemployment rate counts only people actively searching. Broader measures put underutilization at 7.7%, and job searches are running longer than a year ago.
