A New Jersey drywall installer must pay $700,000 in back wages and damages to 48 workers, plus a $25,000 civil money penalty, after the U.S. Department of Labor found the company did not pay for work employees did before their shifts, the department announced Thursday, Oct. 22.
The Wage and Hour Division withdrew a 2025 proposal to remove nine parts of FLSA interpretive guidance from the Code of Federal Regulations, including guidance for retailers, motor carriers and petroleum distributors. The guidance stays where it is.
