Average annual spending by U.S. consumer units reached $81,905 in 2025, up 4.3% from $78,527 in 2024, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Thursday, Oct. 29, in its annual Consumer Expenditures release. Average income before taxes rose faster, climbing 6.4% to $110,847 from $104,207.
